Question: Is there a quick overview of Mototile?
For most areas, and for in-stock items only, orders received before 1pm (Monday to Friday) are despatched for delivery on the following working day (Monday to Friday). Some items - in particular MotoLock Edging/Ramps - which can take 1 - 2 days to make and sent out for delivery.
Once your order is received, we will phone to confirm all details, including any prefered delivery dates. If an item is out of stock or needs to be made or machined we will inform you and confirm an exact delivery date. Generally, orders for flooring are heavy and need to be shipped on a pallet: you must be there to receive, sign for and unload the pallet.
Delivery prices quoted are for UK Mainland and IOW addresses. Please contact us for a quote on delivery options if any of the postal regions below applies to the delivery address: Northern Ireland (BT), Isle of Man (IM), Guernsey (GY), Jersey (JE), Scottish Highlands and Orkney Isles (AB, FK, KW, PA, ML, EH, KA, G, KY, PH, DD, IV), Outer Hebrides and the Shetland Isles (HS, ZE).
Question: Can the floor be used straight away?
Yes, unless curing time for adhesive is required (eg. for securing tile ramps), the entire floor can be used immediately it is laid.
Question: Can I use jacks and stands on the tiles?
MotoLock heavy duty tiles will take spot loads, we would always suggest using an additional tile between the jack and your new floor. A more widely spread load is safer to work with too.
Question: What type of floors can Mototiles be laid on?
The tiles can be laid onto any hard, level surface including concrete and wooden floors, ceramic tiled floors, linoleum and vinyl. However, they are not suitable for fitting directly over carpet or carpet tiles.
Question: What do I need to do preparation wise?
The preparation basics are to remove any ridges or high points in the floor and fill any substantial cracks or holes with a self-leveling mortar. For tile edge/ramps: When bonding tile ramps to a concrete floor observe the adhesive manufactures recommendations for surface preparation.
For tile skirting: Ensure that you can get a good flush fit to the wall and that the bottom of the wall surrounding the tiles is clear of dust and debris.
Question: Do I need special tools to install the Mototile system?
Question: Can the tiles be cut easily?
Tiles can be cut with the sort of hand or power tools you would normally use for cutting or shaping timber.
The image below shows a cutout made using a jigsaw.
Question: How do I install the Mototile snap fast flooring system?
Like a very easy jigsaw. Or imagine laying carpet tiles that snap together and which you firm down with a rubber mallet.
Ensure a 5mm working gap is left around the perimeter of the garage / room and any fixtures so that tiles to allow for expansion in warmer weather. The gap can be hidden by using our tile skirting or any other skirting and we would suggest one at least 10mm thick and you can then sit it just above the tile and thus hiding the expansion gap. We strongly advise the use of tile ramps (MotoLock Ramps) or (MotoMat Ramps) on all edges where vehicles (or anything wheeled) move on and off the floor or where there is a risk of tripping. Go to the Mototile video's to view a selection of how to install guides, picture slide shows, time lapse video's and more.
Question: How do I clean the tiles?
Alternatively you can sweep or vacuum the tiles then sponge mop them with a washing-up liquid solution: use the makers recommended hand-wash concentration level. Don't use harsh detergents, polishes or scouring powders. Never use abrasives.
Question: Is the floor slippery?
The floor has a nice sheen when clean but it is designed (and tested) to be non-slip.
Question: Does water get trapped under the tiles?
The interlock stops most water penetration. Any water that does gets under the tile will evaporate as the tile is has an air flow design on the underside that 'breathes'.
Question: Are the tiles resistant to oils and chemicals?
The tiles are resistant to most oils and acids but a tile sample should be tested if this is a critical requirement.
Question: Is the floor flammable?
The floor is classed as difficult-to-ignite due to its chemical composition.
Question: Do the tiles insulate?
The tiles can act as thermal and acoustic insulation.
Question: What about environmental impact?
Mototile interlocking tiles are 100% recyclable (we sell two ranges of tiles manufactured from recycled PVC materials) and are a totally reusable product: take them with you if you move. Also, if you damage a tile or two, you can replace them and not the whole floor, thus reducing waste.
Question: Can I buy just one tile or a few tiles eg. to change a colour scheme?
Yes. We sell all tiles, ramps and skirting individually and in packs.
Question: Do you deliver outside the UK?
For orders and deliveries outside the UK please contact us.
Question: Why are your tiles cheaper than some others, have you cut corners?
Tiles are manufactured from high grade PVC materials to a full specification. Our prices reflect a focus on business essentials and careful cost control.
Question: Is there a brochure I can download?
